The Greenhouse

Here’s a shot that turned out nice. The crescent moon with Venus. This was just before sunrise with enough light in the sky to see the darkened part of the moon with the crescent. Anyway, I just wanted to show you this, as it turned out great. The greenhouse as before in Minnesota, turned out to be a real lifesaver for our plants. In Minnesota, it gets so cold in the winter that it’s not practical or cost effective to use it. Here in Texas however, we use it all winter long, preserving our outdoor plants. Here are some photos of our greenhouse plants.

Dwarf Banana trees
Succulents
Mango tree
Paddle plant
Aloes
Cannas
Split Leaf Philodendrons
And more
More Succulents
Spider Plant
Bird of Paradise

There are others that I didn’t list as you can see in some of the photos. But you get the idea. Our greenhouse is only 6’x8′ so once we have this many plants in there, there’s not a lot of room left. In January we had some seriously cold weather and ended up with a little frostbite on some of our them, but it didn’t kill any of them completely. We are pretty sure the cold weather is done for this winter, and we think we’ll be able to get all of our plants outside soon. That will leave room for seedlings for this growing season. We’re planting a vegetable garden and a bunch of annuals for the yard. We’re waiting now, for warmer, dryer weather. It will come, we just have to be patient.
