Welcome to “The Window.” Here you will find Barb and Butch’s story. We first met in 1978, had a wild summer together and then slowly drifted apart. Over the course of more than forty years we lived our lives and occasionally ran into each other. Those moments of coming back together were always special. In December 2021 we reconnected and found that we still had strong feelings for each other and have been together ever since.

The blog is called “The Window” because life happens right outside your window. Everything in the world is there for you to see and experience if you just take the time to look. This is our story.

  1. Hello there, thank you very much for stopping by and following trashbus! I’ve read some of your poems and I like the simplicity and subtlety of your words. Keep up the good work!

  2. Impressive bio! You’re a man of many talents……with apparently fantastic multitasking skills:)

      1. I am sincere in my compliments. To have accomplished all you’ve done takes guts, hard work, creativity and the ability to multitask. Your versatility was what initially attracted me to your posts and which keeps me coming back for more. I am impressed.

      2. What I find impressive is Somali people like you leaving everything you know behind and going to a new country, new language, etc. Unbelievable feats of mental strength. I see Somali, Sudanese and others in my work everyday. I suppose the strength is found when you need it most and not while I sit in my warm house.

      3. That strength is in all of us, including you. You’re advocating for a group that has been virtually ignored and in doing so, you’re putting yourself at risk (look at Chomsky and other brilliant activists who’ve been labelled and as a result tarnished).
Somalis, especially women, were known for their dexterity and survival skills. But now, that has been replaced by Islamism and laziness. In fact, my next entry is on what we were and what we’ve now become.

      4. Thank you for reblogging my post. I am trying to mobilize people forces so that we can bring the attacker to justice. The more publicity, the better.

I appreciate your kind gesture. Your generosity is just amazing.

  3. Butch, I like your honest style and freewheeling approach. ‘Part-time Buddhist’. I know the feeling! Thanks for sharing and thanks for liking and following my blog. I look forward to following your writing, here…

  4. I’m really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days..

  5. Just stumbled here this morning. Really enjoy your poems, Butch. Thank you for sending them into the ether. Hope you enjoy your weekend (and stay warm!).

  6. I’m going to bookmark this site so I can check it frequently. As writer, Butch is able to say a lot in a few words. Nice poems and short essays.
