Crossroads

It seems I’ve been here before. This place, where I feel it’s time to make a change, and I’m just not sure which way to go. The other blog ideas that I have tried have not worked so well, have not attracted many readers, and so, here we are, at a crossroad. Unfortunately, my personal interests are not those of the majority of blog readers. Changing states, Classical music, poetry, and short stories do not have people flocking to their computers or cell phones. And as for popular topics, there are already enough pundits out there and not enough hours in the days to read their work. It seems people have shorter attention spans than ever before and even though most of my articles are short, they still haven’t garnered enough interest to keep the readership up.

So, this post is to warn you that something new is coming. Maybe something old, I don’t know. I like to write, I like classical music, and I like poetry, and so maybe I’ll write about those things. I guess as long as I’m writing about something I enjoy, it really doesn’t matter if anyone reads it, right? I mean, I hope you do, but the point of a writer is to write, right? And the point of a reader, is to read. So, I’ll carry on writing, and I hope you carry on reading. That combination seems to work. Anyway, here is a little hint of what might be coming.

Haiku is my favorite form of poetry. The more I read it, and the more I write it, the better I like it. It seems so simple when you read it, and yet it can be very hard to write. To pack as much meaning into three simple lines as is possible, to spark the mind into thinking, to give the reader a new perspective, all with just a few words, can be daunting. Haiku allows the reader to form in their mind what the writer is saying rather than just telling the reader what to think. It’s refreshing to think for yourself, to decide what the writer meant, and maybe even discuss it with others. The possibilities are endless. As I began writing this paragraph, I wasn’t sure what changes to the blog I was going to make. But going back and reading what I just wrote, it seems I’ve made a decision. So, here we go!
