You stood on the deck, your hand on the rail.
With red hair shining, and blue eyes smiling,
you turned to me.
I longed for you, beckoning you to come,
but turning away, you looked out to sea.
I couldn’t move.
As you dove in the water, I was suddenly released.
I ran to you, arms outstretched, reaching.
You were there.
Under the surface you turned, smiling up at me.
And then you were gone, swimming away.
And I was lost.
